People Are Appalled By McDonald's New Billboard -- Was It 'Inappropriate'? (Photo)

Mcdonald's has put up a billboard on the New Mexico-Colorado border advertising its green-chile breakfast burritos. It reads: “Usually, when you roll something this good, it’s illegal!”
Now the billboard is in the spotlight for making a joke about marijuana.

The sign is located between two states with very different marijuana laws. Recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado, but not in New Mexico.
Unfortunately, they didn’t draw positive attention from anyone and everyone that saw it.
McDonald’s restaurants are franchised out to different owners, and while corporate does have rules in place for all locations, the franchisees can come up with their own ways of running the business.
Corporate headquarters wasn't too impressed with the joke.
"This local franchise billboard does not meet our standards and is being taken down," a McDonald's representative said in a statement.

Despite corporate's response, locals don't seem to be bothered by the sign.
Melissa Grubelnik, tourism coordinator of the Raton Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber “sees the humor” in the sign, considering the city’s proximity to Colorado.
“We do not have a problem with it,” Grubelnik said. “We hope it encourages people to stop at our newly renovated McDonald’s.”
One Facebook photo, shared by Lamar New Mexico-El Paso, the advertising company that put up the sign, was shared nearly 2,000 times. “At the request of the owner, we put this baby up in Raton, NM. … It’s getting a lot of buzz!” the post read.
Twitter users really liked the billboard, with many saying that it will actually inspire them to go to McDonald's.

The billboard itself is for a McDonald's on Clayton Road in Raton, just off exit 451 of Canam Highway. What are your thoughts on this billboard, is it fine or inappropriate?
