Ventriloquist Walks Off Stage, Now Pay Close Attention To His Dummy

No matter how good a ventriloquist is, you always know who is pulling the strings. While the dummy might look like it is talking of its own volition, you’ll never be completely fooled. At least you won’t be until you watch Paul Zerdin perform his act as he did recently on America’s Got Talent during the semifinals. As part of the show’s tenth season, Zerdin impressed the staunch judges with his ventriloquist performance (video below) that left the crowd and the judges speechless.
Although the judges are talent shows like America’s Got Talent have seen everything under the sun, they’ve never seen an act as impressive as Zerdin’s. And they were not afraid to let him and America know that they were impressed. But when you see the clip below, you’ll understand why Zerdin draws the big crowds and earns the big bucks as a headline talent on the Las Vegas strip since AGT’s season ended. His act really is world class.

Although he has made a name for himself as a performer, he was not always this successful. However, he knew from an early age that performing was his career path despite the negativity and lack of support he got. His love for the performing arts started when he performed a magic act in high school.
“I entered a school talent competition when I was 15, and most people did something like poetry or tap dancing, but I levitated my sister,” Zerdin told PEOPLE. “I just blew them away, and from that moment on, I remember the next day in the dining hall when I was going to my lunch, I could hear people saying, ‘That guy can do magic.’”

Although Zerdin could never deny his passion for magic acts, he also had a second love – ventriloquism. So he decided to do the next best thing – to include puppets in his magic act. It was a match made in heaven.
“I introduced the puppet character into my magic show and started doing magic with the puppets, and I eventually stopped doing magic and carried on with the puppets and the stand-up over the course of a few years.”

No matter what he does, Zerdin is dedicated to the performing arts. He worked hard to become a master and performed his ventriloquist act across the country from coast to coast. But it was not until he reached the stage of America’s Got Talent for its tenth season did the country fall in love with him.
Paul proved to the judges throughout the season that he was a master performer. The live audiences also fell in love with him as did the people watching him perform at home. He made it to the finals and then sealed the deal at the grand finale. He was determined to be the most talented person in the show that season.

If you have not seen Paul’s routine for the semifinals, you’re going to love it. He takes the stage beside his puppet, Sam the dummy. This loud redheaded mouth then starts an argument with Paul. And it is hilarious.
