Father Passes Away Inside Hospice, His Daughter Writes That His ‘Stubbornness’ Is The Reason He Is Dead In The Obituary
By Dreamer

When someone you love dies and you have the responsibility of putting together their obituary, it is not an easy task. How do you fully embody who they are? How do you put their spirit into words with such a truthful honor? How can you pen something that they would relish rather than despise?
Caitlin Connors knew what she wanted to write about her dad, Chris Connors with no hesitation. The man died at 67 in hospice care after a fight with ALS and pancreatic cancer.
Caitlin chose the perfect way to show respect and honor to Chris’ memory was to make fun of him — her father had a wicked sense of humor.
The obituary begins with a joke. “Irishman Dies from Stubbornness, Whiskey,” she writes. “Chris Connors died, at age 67, after trying to box his bikini-clad hospice nurse just moments earlier. Ladies man, game slayer, and outlaw, Connors told his last inappropriate joke on Friday, December 9, 2016, that which cannot be printed here.”
Caitlin documents the man’s rich life: He climbed the base of Mount Everest, maneuvered his way into a job on Wall Street with no experience, and was stabbed while saving a woman from being mugged, to name just a few things the man accomplished.
“He lived 1,000 years in the 67 calendar years we had with him because he attacked life; he grabbed it by the lapels, kissed it, and swung it back onto the dance floor,” the obit reads.
Caitlin was there the moment he died. Her hand resting gently on his chest, she felt his heart suddenly stop beating. And just like that, her father was gone.
In his final days, the family sat around him in hospice care. They joked, they laughed, they partied, and although he was a dying man, Chris would flip his family members the bird with affection.
