Lets be honest, singing an Elvis classic isn't a simple task, however this teen on The Voice did more to prove that he could accomplish that task. Singing any Elvis song will always get you compared to the legend but for this 16 year old named Raffi Arto, you can clearly hear the influence coming from Elvis in this singer. He added his own rendition to this classic which helps him gain a bigger audience, adding onto the one he already has.
As he came on the show The Voice France, Raffi walked on stage, to perform the classic hit “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” as he sat down at the piano, with everyone noticing that even his hair has an Elvis influence.
When he started the performance, no one could have expected what they would hear from the teenager — a remarkably emotional and flawless rendition of a song that’s been covered countless times.
At just 16 years old, his voice has the maturity and passion to deliver an amazing performance — and that he does, winning the crowd and judges over easily with his smooth tone.
Raffi has been singing since he was a toddler and started playing piano when he was six years old. He told Tele-Loisirs about his musical history and commitment to his passions, noting: “When I started playing the piano, I practiced for two or three hours a day. Today I spend another good hour. But I have other passions, like football and boxing… Well, I put the sport aside for The Voice because this adventure will be short, and I’m trying to make the most of it.”
Additionally, he told Le Parisien that he has a bit of stage fright while appearing on the talent competition, noting: “When we are in front of millions of people, it is not easy.” You’d never know it once he hits the stage, however.
Among the comments on social media about Raffi’s performance were those who were blown away by his talent. One commenter noted: “Oh my God. Where has this young man been hiding? He is awesome. A beautiful song and piano. I love love it. The best of Elvis ever… where do I buy his music. God bless him always.”
Other fans echoed the praise, with one writing: “Awesome voice. I loved Raffi singing this Elvis song. Well done Raffi Arto” and another noting: “SUPERB Raffi in everything you did with this lovely song. You made it your own. BRAVO!”
Not everyone, however, was a fan, with the inevitable Elvis comparisons being made. One commenter noted: “I’m sorry, nice try but no cigar. Good luck to him and I wish him all the best but Elvis is a hard one to challenge.”
Another commenter couldn’t deny Raffi’s talent, but noted: “Sorry, I don’t get it, lots of awesome talent here, but his raspy hi velocity vibrato kind of turned me off. Please don’t compare to Elvis.”
Others agreed, with comments such as: “Sorry, nothing like The King, maybe when his voice matures” and “Too weak. Too whispery. Just sounds like anyone singing this song. Nothing special about him and nothing like Elvis.”
