A Guest Made This For Our Pot Luck Dinner, However Nobody Attempted To Try It

Looking for a crowd-pleaser for your next pot luck dinner? You might want to skip this creation, which gets some points for creativity, but would likely go untouched at any dish-to-pass event. The recipe is simple enough, but the ingredients are pretty old school and the presentation is beyond bizarre. Just because something can be put into a gelatin mold pan, doesn’t mean it should be.

If you’re up for the challenge, however, you can easily pull this together with some canned foods and unflavored gelatin. It’s kind of the definition of weird, but if you’re going for some bit of nostalgia, this might just hit the mark. Don’t be offended if you can’t find anyone brave enough to taste it though.

It’s called Retro Spaghetti-O Jello and it is truly a sight to behold. By combining childhood favorites, Spaghetti-Os and Jell-O, you get a savory gelatinized concoction that could be your next conversation piece – a chilled circle of spaghetti is guaranteed to generate some commentary.

Of course, presentation is everything and you don’t want to simply plop out a cold ring of Spaghetti-Os and call it a day, so go ahead and spruce it up by placing some Vienna sausages or hot dogs in the center of it all. It’s not like anything else found on the buffet table, we can guarantee it.

Shared Food

You’ll need the following ingredients:

¼ cup water
¼ cup condensed tomato soup
2 (¼ ounce) packets unflavored gelatin
2 cans Spaghetti-Os

Simply assemble the first two ingredients in a large pot, mixing the tomato soup and water together. Next, sprinkle the gelatin on top, allowing it to bloom in the water, about 5 – 10 minutes. Once it’s bloomed, stir everything together gently.

Place the pot on medium heat, stirring occasionally until the gelatin has completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

Next, turn off the heat and add the Spaghetti-Os to the pot, mixing to combine all ingredients.

Pour the mixture evenly into a 4 cup ring mold and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.

When ready to serve, loosen the mold by placing it in a bowl of warm water, then inverting it onto a plate. Add the sausages in the middle and voila!

Shared Food

As you might imagine, this creation didn’t go over so well when the originator, Shared, posted it on Facebook, with most people agreeing that it was all around pretty disgusting. One person noted: “Pure crap, no food value, fat and sugar and full of preservatives. Why would anyone even consider that this is food?”

Another commenter noted: “No thank you… make the real spaghetti and add cut up hot dogs in the sauce. If you want canned spaghetti, heat it up and eat it, don’t jelly it.”

Shared Food

One person offered an equally gross side dish to accompany the jellied Spaghetti-Os, writing: “How about a ramen noodle casserole to go with it topped with crushed Doritos?”

Another commenter shared this tip: “Any decent gourmand knows that Spaghetti-Os are best eaten cold, straight from the can, using Pringles or Tostitos Scoops as a utensil.”
