As Soon As These Third Graders Spin Around, The Audience Bursts Into Laughter
By Dreamer

Children have a natural penitent for making other people smile. They’re filled with so much joy it just spills out of them. And it is utterly contagious. Elementary school children are a joy to be around because they’re full of energy and love to have fun. But Malinda Williams knows how to bring the best out of her students at the elementary school in Los Angeles where she teaches.
She also likes to have fun. And when an opportunity arose at Baldwin Hills Elementary, Williams knew she had to seize it before it went away. While other public school systems are forced to cut back on art and music programs, Williams refused to let her school lose its heart and soul. And because she is a huge fan of Motown artists like the Jackson 5 and The Supremes, she wanted to bring that same passion and love of music to the children. So she did the impossible. She organized a talent show where the children could dance and sing along to these classic songs that we all know and love.
She has since planned and organized the musical event of the year called “The Sounds of Motown.” In her spectacular show, Williams helped the students prepare performances that feature dancing, singing, accurate costumes, and children as happy as they can be. And that’s the best part.
Although all of her children’s performances are great, Williams had a special love for the little boys who danced to “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5. As you see these children giving their all to the performance, your spirits will be lifted for sure. The children look just like Michael Jackson and his siblings. You’ll think they have traveled through time to perform on the stage at Baldwin Hills Elementary.
In the iPhone video filmed at one of William’s “The Sounds of Motown” shows, you can see the smiles on these children’s faces as they do their best in front of the crowd. They are utterly amazing. And they have a future in show business like Michael Jackson did if they choose to pursue it.
The clip below includes the five children. And the video, which has gone viral millions of times over, has the following description detailing the performance: “Jelani, Eugene, Ryan, Anthony, and Jalen paying tribute to The Jackson Five! Choreography by Malinda Williams”
We applaud Malinda Williams for her talent and her ability to inspire children to greatness. We wish more teachers like her existed in the great schools across the country. And some of the 2.5 million viewers agree. They shared thousands of comments like:
“Made me so happy watching this. These kids are awesome!”
“Once in a while, something comes across this mega social media world that just makes you stop and smile. Thanks to a great group of kids and teachers I have now wasted a wonderful 20 minutes or so just smiling and remembering these tunes from my childhood. So much work put into this production is incredible. Thanks again.”
What’s your response to this fun performance?
