A terrible story has recently come to our attention residing from San Bernardino, California. Maribel Gonzalez, a 38 year old woman was the victim who was hit by a car on July 11th. Gonzalez was a mother of four children and was pregnant with her fifth child which was due sometime in August. Sadly, both she and the unborn child were killed after they were hit by the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by law enforcement officials.
Family and friends held a prayer vigil for Gonzales and her baby the following night. Flowers, candles, and a sign appeared to be placed at the intersection where the tragic incident occurred.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after hitting Gonzales — leaving the hit-and-run case unsolved for several days. However, the driver — who has now been identified as 31-year-old Mercedes Vanesa Guevara — was taken into custody on Monday, July 16th, reported Fox News.
According to ABC 7, Guevara ran a red light while speeding in a Dodge Charger. After striking the pregnant mother who was walking in the crosswalk, the female suspect crashed into a tree and was picked up by an unidentified person in another vehicle.
