Mom Places Army Sticker On Her Car To Honor Soldier Son, Later Discovers A Shocking Note On Her Windshield

Jodi St. Clair is a proud military parent who displays that pride with stickers on her car. One of her sons, 22-year-old Jacob, is serving in Korea and another son, 20-year-old Daniel, is in North Carolina. One sticker on her van reads: “My sons defend our freedom,” while the other says, “Proud parent of a soldier.”

When she left the hair salon where she works one day, she found something on her windshield, believing it to be a business flyer and a $20 bill. She couldn’t have been more wrong about the flyer.

A stranger, upon seeing the stickers on her car, left a handwritten note that read: Dear ‘Proud Parent’: Please either send this $20 to your Army Soldier for a meal. If he/she is in the Middle East, either use it to buy a care or comfort kit or save it for his/her return. I pray for our military around the world every night, especially those serving in dangerous areas or in one of our wars. Godspeed, Shelley.”

Jodi hoped to find Shelley to thank her personally for the kind note and money.

Many people who read about the story on Fox News were moved by the stranger’s kindness, with comments such as: “Thank you Shelley. You brought tears of happiness to many, many eyes, including mine” and “Amen. Great act of kindness. Thanks to all the men and women in the military. God bless US.”

Others, however, disputed whether or not the person who left the note wanted to remain anonymous, with one person noting: “The donor of the money and note should not be sought. She wasn’t looking for any acknowledgement; she wanted to commit a random act of kindness, which by definition is an anonymous act.”

Jodi’s husband responded to the comment, giving an update on their search for Shelley, writing: “What the newscast does not show is that the note has Shelley’s FULL name on it and is written on USO letterhead. The reason I know that is Jodi is my wife and the two boys, Jacob and Daniel, are my sons. We were able to find Ms. Woods and took her out to lunch last Friday.”

Others remarked: “THAT is a decent person who appreciates the sacrifices of our military men/women, and took the time to make their load a little lighter to bear. Thanks Shelly” and “I’m a military mom, too — love stories like this! God Bless the Shelleys of this world.”

Among the many comments left about the story on social media was one military parent who had a similar encounter, writing: “My two sons also serve in the army. And, yes, I have a sticker on my car. While stopped at a red light I had a woman yelling from her car next to me to thank them for their service. It really made me smile!”

Others shared their thanks and blessings, with one commenter noting: “Jodi, may God bless you and your family. May they be safe wherever they lay their heads. Protect them, so they may come home safely.”
