I Saw My Neighbor Placing Pieces Of Soap In Her Garden. I Understand The Reason Why Now
By Dreamer

Anyone who rents an apartment or is a home owner knows the feeling of having to deal with neighbors who live near you. Seeing as though you and your neighbor may want the property value to rise, being kinda and nice to each other is very essential. However, the more you get to know the people you live next to, the stranger you’ll begin to learn they are.
For example, my neighbor kept putting bars of soap in her garden. I thought it was the most bizarre thing. My wife and I would be sitting on our porch watching as the woman next door came outside with brand-new Irish Spring soap, which she would chop into chips and scatter around her vegetables and flowers.

Because I was so curious about her gardening habit, I did some research online. And once I searched “why people put soap in their garden,” I was amazed. She wasn’t as crazy as I had thought. To the contrary, I was the crazy one for not putting soap in my yard. After that day, I followed my neighbor’s lead and put soap near my favorite plants. Here’s why you should too.
Scented soaps keep animals away from your prized flowerbeds and vegetable gardens. While scattering soap around the garden can work great, I learned from my research online that my neighbor could have gone one step better. Instead of just tossing the chips of soap around, you can attach them to wooden stakes. This sends the scent out even farther and deters more animal mischief-makers.
Here’s what you need to gather to get started with your Irish Spring soap trick.
-One dozen bars of Irish Spring scented soap
-A knife
-6 wooden stakes that are 3-feet tall
-6 mesh pouches or patches of cheesecloth
-A staple gun
While some of these items might require you to make a trip to the grocery store or even Home Depot, you should get them and get started. It’s never too early or too late in the season to protect your plants from deer, woodchucks, and other critters.
First, cut your Irish Spring soap into pieces. Then put the pieces into your mesh pouches or tie them into bags with the cheesecloth.
Hammer, your takes into the ground, so there is at least two feet of wood protruding out. Then staple each sack of soap onto the top of the stake.
While this is enough to keep the critters at bay, go one step further. This is when it is best to follow my neighbor’s tactic. With the rest of the soap, including the shards and remnants, sprinkle them about your garden in high-traffic spots or near desirable plants.
With your garden loaded with bars of soap, you can keep hungry creatures away from your precious plants no matter if it rains or shines. And if it does rain, the water will activate the soap, which helps release more of the scent to fend off the animals.
What do you think about this trick for protecting your garden from uninvited animal guests?
