Remove Ugly Red Bumps That Appear After Shaving By Using These 7 Home Remedies

Have you ever finished shaving to find you're covered in tender, red bumps, left from the razor? Not only are they uncomfortable, they look bad too. The pressing question is once you have razor burn, how do you get rid of it?

Since razor burn is just an irritation of the skin, the key to clearing it up is soothing the skin. Check the 7 ways you can help relieve unsightly and uncomfortable razor burn at home.

1. Oatmeal bath. Medical News Today reminds people that oatmeal is great for soothing irritated skin. Just a Pinch recommends combining 1 cup oatmeal, 1 cup baking soda, and 2 teaspoons coconut oil. Place this mixture in a sock and attach it to the bathtub spout. Fill the bathtub with warm water and soak for 20 minutes to help relieve razor burn.

2. Tea tree oil. Another treatment is to apply tea tree oil. Healthline says to apply a mixture that is equal parts tea tree oil and water to the razor burn.

3. Honey. Honey also has great healing properties and is soothing to the skin. NLDA says to apply honey directly to the razor burn and leave it for 15 minutes before washing it off with warm water.

4. Black tea bags. Cold compresses are also recommended by Medical News Today. The tannic acid in black tea may help reduce swelling and discomfort according to NLDA. You can take several used black tea bags and place them in the refrigerator until cold. Apply them to the razor burn for 10 minutes to help with the discomfort. You get the advantage of both the cold and the tea.

5. Coconut oil. Coconut oil has both moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. NLDA recommends applying the oil directly to the razor burn and letting it soak in. You can wash it off after 20 minutes, but it's not necessary.

6. Baking soda. Medical News Today says that you can make a paste out of baking soda to help soothe the burn. Mix 1 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Put the mixture on the razor burn with a cotton ball, allowing it to dry before cleaning it off. You can reapply as often as necessary.

7. Aspirin. Because aspirin is an anti-inflammatory, some recommend using aspirin to help soothe razor burn. Ritely says to soak 2 aspirin in 1 teaspoon of warm water, creating a paste. Put the paste on the bumps for 10 minutes before rinsing off.

With so many easy ways to relieve uncomfortable razor burn, you may not have to be uncomfortable anymore. The next time you feel the burn when you get done shaving, try one of these remedies and find the one that works for you.
