Concerned dad Tim Cocker was worried that his two precious tow-headed kids were being completely spoiled on Christmas Day materialistically. While it's a day of abundance, he also worried that they were missing the point of the holiday and focusing too much on toys. Son Louis really wanted a Ben 10 watch. Darling daughter Connie was desperately hoping for Princess Barbie and her fairytale boyfriend King Ken. But would Santa come through? Would Dad buy it for them instead?
Tim decided to teach his kids a life lesson this holiday season. He wanted them to realize just how fortunate they were every day of the year for the wonderful gifts they enjoy like food, a roof over their heads and love, not just the windfall of toys on Christmas Day. A couple weeks before Christmas, Dad surprises his kids by saying they can open a present each. The kids sat at the kitchen table and were filled with joy and excitement at the thought of receiving a gift early. But needless to say, the kids were stunned by what Dad gave them. He opted to bestow upon his little blessings "truly terrible gifts." Really, really bad gifts for little kids.
The siblings eagerly grasped at the small gifts wrapped in red and white crinkly paper that Dad placed on the table. They both have their hearts set on the watch and dolls. Despite the fact that neither gift resembled a wrapped watch or dolls, the kids could not stop talking about these coveted toys. But when they discovered what was inside that wrapping paper, these two little ones were stunned. Connie thought she'd received a tiny pumpkin, but Louis corrected her in that she actually had unwrapped a smelly onion. Louis peeled back his wrapping paper to discover he had received a banana!
