Little Girl Passes Away Suddenly, Then X-Ray Reveals Common Household Item In Her Stomach
By Mike-Ross

Toddlers are very curious little beings by nature. They love to explore and investigate why things work, how they work and how much they will work, so it is important that parents safety-proof their homes, vehicles and keep close tabs on their little ones.
A sad truth is that no matter how hard parents try to protect their children, bad things can occur. Dad George Asan discovered this the hard way way when his precious two-year-old daughter Francesca swallowed something deadly, unbeknownst to him.

Francesca somehow found a button battery and ingested it. It was small enough that she easily swallowed it without choking, even though they are still considered a choking hazard.
Sadly for the toddler, they are also poisonous. She showed no signs of choking or discomfort, so George had no idea what was happening to his darling daughter.
When the button battery slid down her throat into her esophagus then on into her stomach, it made contact with Francesca's internal fluids and began corroding. This burned the poor baby on the inside and led to internal bleeding. The battery burned through her esophagus and into her artery.
Francesca's parents took her to the doctor, but they were told to return if her condition worsened. Ingesting a button battery oftentimes shows no symptoms other than that of a stomachache or virus. She eventually passed away of a massive internal hemorrhage.

Crushed by his daughter's demise, George decided to team up with the Child Accident Prevention Trust to hopefully help prevent any other parents from suffering the loss he has. Because button batteries are found in hundreds of objects commonly found around the house, parents must be vigilant not just in keeping spare batteries away, but in keeping the objects they're in out of reach of children.
"What happened to Francesca proved that you can't have eyes everywhere and you can't take that basic freedom of exploring away from a toddler; that makes them a toddler."

Here's important information about how to prevent another such tragedy from occurring.
Experts advise parents who suspect their children of having swallowed a button battery to take them to the emergency room immediately. Because the batteries begin to corrode and produce caustic soda upon contact with internal fluids like saliva, the internal organs begin to burn and can cause permanent damage within just a few hours.
It was incredibly brave of George to have stepped up and shared his heartbreaking story with the world in the hopes of saving other parents from the tragedy he's endured and other children from such a painful passing. Be sure to pay close attention to any batteries or products with button batteries and safely secure them out of reach of your little loved ones.
