Hard water plagues every home. It doesn't matter how much you clean and maintain your home, they always creep up on you and seem harder and harder to get rid of.  You think wiping it down with a regular cleaner would be good enough, but you need something that will specifically break down the minerals that have caked your surface.

This is where salt, baking soda, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide mixture comes into play. These awesome, gunk-fighting solutions will make your surfaces look good as new. We've checked around the internet and found the ultimate solutions for the biggest problem areas of the home. Check it out and let us know what you think!

1. Epsom salt for faucets

Blogger Jodez Home and Garden says an Epsom salt mixture will lift those tough stains quickly and easily. Here's what you need:

1 cup Epsom salts

1/2 cup baking soda

1/4 cup liquid dish soap

Mix them all together in a bowl and then rub it on your surfaces with hard water stains. They should lift off easily within seconds.

2. Baking soda & vinegar for drinking glasses

Over time your favorite drinking glasses become foggy and discolored. This milky film won't come off no matter how many times you soak it or put it in the dishwasher. Instead, you need to tackle this head on with a simple, homemade concoction.

White Vinegar

Lemon Juice

Baking Soda

Warm Water

Lemons

Pour this all into a large tub or container, then let your glasses soak for 30 minutes. When you pull them out they should look brand new.

3. Windows with apple cider vinegar

Are your windows white and streaky? Tackle this tricky hard water spot by filling a spray bottle with 25 percent apple cider vinegar and 75 percent water. The Frugal Girls say to spray it on the trouble spots, wipe with a cotton cloth and you're good to go.

4. Pumice stone for the toilet

You know those pummace stones they use to scrub your feet during a pedicure? Well, blogger Bitz and Giggles swears that this tiny tool will work miracles on your toilet, too. Simply rub the stone onto the stains and within seconds you'll see the stains disappear without scratching your porcelain.

5. Hydrogen peroxide for the shower

Once hard water stains take over your shower, it's hard to get rid of them. That's why blogger extraordinaire I Have Tried It uses this simple, homemade solution everytime she's in the shower to prevent those pesky stains from creeping up.

24 ounces of water

1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide

1/2 cup rubbing alcohol

2 tsp dishwashing liquid

2 tsp automatic dishwasher rinse

Put it all in a spray bottle and every time you're about to get out of the shower, spray this all around and rinse.
