Instead of belting out their usual rendition, the two country music superstars put a unique spin on things. The performance that proceeded was something that had fans and critics alike cheering.
Before their CMT Music Awards performance, Keith Urban released a statement which read, "Carrie and I are working to create a different take on 'The Fighter' for the CMT Awards!!!" It was clear Keith and Carrie had something special up their sleeves. In addition to "The Fighter" live performance during the awards show, the song's music video was nominated for the the Collaborative Video of the Year.
As soon as Carrie and Keith stepped on stage, those watching live knew something special was about to happen! Instead of the usual oomph that the duo puts forth, they slowed things down a bit and performed a more romantic rendition.
