Few Iconic Songs Make Me Want To Get Out Of My Seat And Dance More Than Their Classic [video]
By Mike-Ross

Last night I was watching an “I Love Lucy” special on television. Although I haven’t seen the show in years, I was transported back to a time and place where comedy was wholesome and the world was more innocent. Although crime and other problems still persisted during the 1950s and ‘60s, there was an overall innocence compared to the oversaturated generation of today. One of those classic tunes that made me groove back in the day was “Sleep Walk” by Santo & Johnny. And in the video clip below, you’ll get to see this iconic duo play their song from the 1959 show with Dick Clark called “Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show”. Check out this amazing performance below!
At the beginning of the short clip, Dick Clark is crouching near the audience. He had just finished a segment where he asked the audience members a few questions. But as soon as he introduces the brothers Santo & Johnny” the crowd releases a sigh of excitement. And even Dick Clark can’t resist the contagious energy of the young men. His smile beams from his lips.

“Strap yourself in, ladies,” Clark jokes.
Then he describes how the story of “Sleep Walk” came to be. Apparently, the song was built from an experience that occurred at 2 in the morning. One brother woke with an idea for a song and roused the other from sleep.
And then from the two family home in Brooklyn, New York the two brothers began composing the track that is not a hit that has spanned the generations. To think, that one moment of inspiration – if not seized – could have left us without “Sleep Walk” to listen to.
As Dirk Clark introduces Santo & Johnny to the stage, the audience cheers and claps. They are excited to see what this new song from the brothers is all about.
Check out the memorable performance below. Nearly 4 million people have watched Santo & Johnny play this amazing hit. And you should, too. Thousands have left comments. Here are some of the most popular to whet your palette.
