Man Spots Blue Bag On Side Of Road, Calls Cops Over What’s Hidden Inside
By Mike-Ross

It started out as an ordinary day for Jake Bowers, an Ohio father who was riding in the car with his family, but that changed when he spotted an abandoned blue bag on the side of the road. After asking his wife to pull over, the man decided to investigate, but what he found hidden inside the bag left him not only stunned but immediately going to the cops.
Thinking that the abandoned bag might contain a laptop, Bowers asked his wife to turn the car around so he could investigate. After she pulled over, he got out to take a closer look. However, when he unzipped the bag, nothing could have prepared him for what he would find inside — $14,000 dollars.

“My wife was driving and I said, ‘Honey, turn around, there’s something in the road back there,’” Bowers explained, according to Inside Edition. “We grabbed the bag and the kids said, ‘What is it?’” He continued, “There were a couple (of) envelopes and … the corners were open and you could see inside that they were stuffed with hundred-dollar bills.”
Without hesitation, Bowers, his wife, and their boys immediately drove to the Worthington Police Department. Knowing that the cash didn’t belong to them and that someone would eventually realize it was gone, they dropped off the bag and its entire contents. “It was a good opportunity to teach the kids about doing the right thing,” Bowers explained, proving that he’s a good man and father.
Luckily, when officers searched the bag, they found identification inside allowing them to track down the owner. Come to find out, the man who had been carrying that large sum of money had gone to a car dealership to purchase a vehicle when he chose not to buy anything and went home. However, the man believes he may have made one mistake – he left the cash on the roof of his car, where it eventually flew off as he drove home.
Thankfully, Bowers and his family found the cash and turned it into police, where the owner would retrieve it a week later. “While that money could have meant paying off our cars or going on a vacation … it may have meant groceries or sustenance to someone else,” Bowers said.
The man who lost the cash is beyond lucky to have had someone as kind and honest as Bowers locate his stash since the selfless man didn’t keep the money for himself. Clearly, that would have been an easy option, but Bowers knew that giving it to the police was the right thing to do. We all know how long it takes to earn $14,000, and no one would want to lose it, no matter how rich you are.
Our society has degraded to the point where there are far more people who would have chosen to keep the money for themselves. It’s nice to know that there are parents like Bowers and his wife who are teaching their children how to be good people, even in a world full of selfish brats. Not only did their children learn an important lesson, for many hearing their story, a little faith in humanity was restored.
