The warning comes from 19-year-old Ashley Hardacre from Flint, Michigan, after an incident occurred when she recently finished working the night shift at the mall.

When she got inside of her car to leave the premises, she spotted a flannel shirt wrapped around her windshield wiper, and what happened next provoked her to send a terrifying warning to others — if it happens to you, don’t touch the shirt.
At first, Ashley didn’t notice the shirt on her windshield, but as soon as she got inside, there was no avoiding the reality. Of course, she considered getting out of the car to remove it to safely drive, but she quickly noticed that there were two other cars hovering near her vehicle. Suddenly, she realized, someone was using the shirt to ploy her out of her car in a possible attempt to kidnap her.
“I got to my car and locked the doors behind me immediately as I always do and noticed that there was a blue flannel shirt on my windshield,” Ashley recalled. Instead of trying to remove it, she drove away and rolled down her window at a safe location to pull the shirt off, she further explained in her Facebook post.
“At first I thought maybe someone had just thrown it on my car for some odd reason. I used my windshield wipers to try to get them off but the shirt was completely wrapped around my wiper blade,” she said, “I had seen posts lately about people finding things under their windshield wipers in the Burton/Flint area as an attempt to get girls out of their cars and distracted.”
Thankfully, as a result of the other warnings she had recently seen and what her parent’s had previously taught her, Ashley knew not to get out of her vehicle. In an attempt to raise awareness across the country, she shared her terrifying experience on Facebook, and her post has already been shared over 105,000 times.
“I’m kind of passed the scared, I’m more of — I want other people to know that it is, you know, something that can happen to them,” Ashley explained. Her message is simple, don’t remove the shirt or any other item that may have been placed on your car to lure you out until you are somewhere safe or else you’ll be taking a risk with your own life.
“Nothing like this has ever happened before,” Flint Township Police Detective Sergeant Brad Wangler said, according to Elite Daily. “There have been no other incidences like this. It’s kind of unknown as to what or why or who [did this].” Unfortunately, according to Daily Mail, Michigan ranks second in the country for human trafficking because of its proximity to Canada.
