Cop Shows Up Looking For Missing Child, Floored At What They Walk In On
By Dreamer

Police officers in Atlanta, Georgia received a call from an apartment complex about a missing man and child. However, when they went to the place to investigate, an officer walked in on an unfathomable scene in the bedroom that was likely a first in their career in law enforcement and left them feeling sick.
April White is a seasoned investigator and compassionate about families. This makes her a great cop, but it’s also a difficult job to do most days as she never knows what she will be called to do. Last week, she had one of those days, when she received a report to check on a family of six, who needed help tracking down a missing grandfather and child. However, as soon as she entered the small apartment, she would find the two weren’t all that was missing.

According to WSBTV, children ranging in age from 2-months to 6-years-old live in the small apartment, but the floors are what shocked her. White noticed that not a single member of the struggling family had a bed to sleep in, as they each slept with just a minimal amount of bedding on the carpet. Heartbroken at the living conditions, White took to her personal Facebook page to with an idea.
The thoughtful investigator’s duty that day went from searching for a missing man and child to beds for the family who had nothing. The family members that were gone in response to a craigslist ad were found safe, but White wasn’t done there. She went above and beyond to ensure each one of them had a soft place to sleep from that point on. Her post asked friends and family for clothing, household items, bedding, or any other helpful necessities, but one man did much better than that.

Brian Woodward saw her plea. As the manager of a Mattress Firm, he reached out to APD with a generous offer for the family, providing brand new beds for every single person in the family. Woodward and white surprised the family on Tuesday with the incredible gift.
“Beds are something we tend to take for granted,” White told the news station. “I just wanted to help the family and see the children smile.”
Having never been on the receiving end of such unexpected kindness, the little children beamed with excitement for such a simple thing as knowing they were going to finally get a good night sleep. It wasn’t this cop’s job to provide necessities for this family, it was her heart that did that. White and Woodward saw a need and did something about it, rather than assuming it was someone else’s problem to deal with. Now they can sleep at night knowing that these children aren’t on the floor and are safe in their beds.
