After dating a man for months, a mother in Georgia didn’t know he had been keeping a sickening secret from her until a quick trip to the DMV turned into a nightmare. It was there that it was discovered what he had been hiding in his trunk and driving around town with without her having any clue what had taken place.
While most people’s least favorite place on the planet is the DMV, a Clayton County mother is lucky it was on one woman’s list of things to do. Without that stop made by an observant stranger, the mother would not have known what her boyfriend had been up to. Thanks to the stranger, the ex-boyfriend’s secret is out, and he’s behind bars.
According to WSBTV, the former boyfriend, whose name was not released, needed to get some business taken care of at the DMV. While he was waiting his turn in the notoriously long line, his white sedan was parked right outside. A separate woman who was leaving the DMV happened to walk past his car at just the right time when the trunk popped open a crack and she got a glimpse of what was inside.
Ex-Boyfriends car with secret in the trunk
Wanting to remain anonymous, the witness told the news station that she saw two eyes peering out the barely opened trunk before it quickly closed again upon shock at seeing someone looking back at the person trapped in there. Certain that she saw a little boy in there, she went up to the trunk and asked what he was doing in there. The child, presumed to be about 8 or 9-years-old, used the automatic release latch inside to crack open the trunk and answer her and said, “He told me to hide.”
Not knowing who “he” was that the boy was referring to, the woman asked who told him to get in there and hide. The child explained that it was his mother’s ex-boyfriend who forced him in there. Considering what a hot day it was and the boy was in need of fresh air, she pulled him out to save him, right as the ex-boyfriend saw what was going on and bolted from the DMV.
The woman had already called police when the man came out of the building and tried to make a getaway in the car, leaving the boy with the good Samaritan. The boyfriend didn’t get too far as police arrived before he could escape, and he was arrested.
Cops rescuing child who is in front seat
The child had allegedly been kidnapped by the man his mother once dated, who had warned her son to call police if the man ever came around, that he was not supposed to be anywhere near him. Thankfully his attempt to take the kid failed, because of a concerned citizen looking out and acting fast with what she saw.
This should serve as a lesson to be overly cautious with who you date when you’re a single parent. A mother or father’s first responsibility should be to their child, and that includes who you bring around them. This could have ended much worse, either by the boy succumbing to the heat in the trunk, or some other kind of harm done if the jilted boyfriend wanted to get back at the woman and used her kid to get revenge.
