Man Abducts A Young Girl, But Quick-Thinking 11-Year-Old Boy Is There To Save The Day
By Dreamer

Sometimes even the smallest among us can be heroes—all it takes is the right set of circumstances and the courage to take action. Still, the circumstances required for heroism are often terrible. This was certainly the case in a story coming out of Wichita Falls, Texas where a young girl was abducted right out of her front yard. Fortunately, she was saved just in time by an unlikely aid.

The little boy in question was 11-year-old TJ Smith, who was playing in his front yard like any other day until he saw something unusual across the street. A man he didn’t recognize had pulled up and grabbed a little girl who was riding a scooter. Though he initially thought the man might’ve been the girl’s uncle, he quickly saw that something was wrong.
Taking quick action, Smith went next door to his neighbor James Ware’s house to let him know what had happened. As Ware took in the news and went to get his keys, Smith started chasing the strange man down the street. By the time Ware caught up with him, little TJ had followed the strange man all the way to a nearby abandoned house.

As it turns out, TJ and James arrived just in time to see the assailant trying to climb in the back window of the house with the girl. Upon seeing the two men, he dropped the girl and started to run. The pair were able to catch him and hold him until police arrived. The suspect in question was 26-year-old Raeshawn Perez. After his arrest, the police questioned Perez and discovered his shocking intentions—fortunately, his plans were foiled thanks to TJ.
“If was a little girl, I’d be scared too,” he said.
Though this story could’ve had a chilling end, TJ Smith showed a sense of real heroism thanks to his quick instincts. His quick thinking and concern for the world around him prevented what could’ve been a real tragedy—all this at only 11 years old. Luckily, his bravery was celebrated by the local police department who made him an honorary member. He even wore his special badge to school that day.
Be sure to catch the story here to hear TJ’s own take on the story. Above all, let this story be a reminder to always look out for your fellow man and to speak out if you see something that isn’t right. In the right situation, you could be saving someone’s life.
