This past week, Josh Daniels stepped onstage to audition for The X Factor UK, and it was one of the most emotional auditions I have ever seen.
Josh, a car mechanic, is only 21-years-old, and he unexpectedly lost his dear best friend two years ago. Standing in front of millions of viewers, Josh announces that he will sing Labrinth’s “Jealous” in order to honor his best friend. But rather than interpret the song the way the band originally meant, Josh has his own unique interpretation. He misses his best friend in Heaven so much, and he’s jealous he can not be there to have good times with him.
Josh lives with his mother who is number one fan. From watching the video, it’s clear that she’s very emotional and could not be more proud of her talented son. Simon Cowell recently lost his mother too, and there’s no doubt in my mind that he was touched by this performance. In fact, he was so overcome with emotion that he could hardly speak at the end.
