VIDEO: Parents Stage “Flash Mob” to Defy School That Banned Bible From Charlie Brown Christmas Play

Some parents in Kentucky decided they were going to voice their opinions about recent changes to the play “A Charlie Brown Christmas” when the Johnson County Board of Education banned one of its most significant scenes.
Students at W.R. Castle Elementary School were told when they performed the play Thursday, they could not include the scene in which the character Linus quotes from the Bible.
In this scene, Linus quotes from the Gospel of Luke and explains the real meaning of Christmas.

Johnson County Schools Superintendent Thomas Salyer told the Kentucky Herald-Leader, “The U.S. Supreme Court and the 6th Circuit are very clear that public school staff may not endorse any religion when acting in their official capacities and during school activities.”
This was enough to upset many parents, who decided to fight back in the best way possible — by quoting the scripture from the bleachers.
“The parents in the bleachers basically quoted the verse from the book of Luke, and it was just an amazing moment – it really was,” parent Joey Collins said on “Fox & Friends.” “Everybody was pretty much in tears and clapping. It was just a great time.”
The parents read Luke 2:8-14 aloud and showed the school board that while they might be able ban students from reading Bible scriptures in a Christmas play, they can’t kill the spirit of Christmas.
