While trying to get her last-minute grocery shopping done at Meijer, a Michigan mother couldn’t help but notice a burly looking biker watching her in several aisles. As she neared the register to escape his glare, she felt a tap on her shoulder. That’s when she turned around to find her “stalker” who had a specific message for her.
Jessica Reway was in a bit of a hurry. She wanted to get what little shopping done that she could afford before Christmas. As she walked up and down the grocery store aisles, she noticed a biker watching her. Uneasy about why the stranger was staring at her, she grabbed the last things on her list and headed to the register, but he wasn’t about to let her get away without stopping her for one specific reason.

Jerry “Bear” Cook of The Chosen Ones motorcycle club was not in the store this past weekend to shop. He was simply there to watch and give something to those who he felt needed it. Cook and others in his crew had picked up several $50 gift cards, and when they saw people who appeared as if they could use a little help with groceries, they handed them the gift. Reway was one of those unsuspecting recipients, who shared something with Cook after he tapped her on the shoulder and handed her the gift card.

With tears in her eyes, she explained that his kindness couldn’t have come at a better time. Before heading out to the store that day, she had been looking over her bills and realized that on her exceptionally tight budget, she was going to come up short for Christmas. She told Cook that his generosity that day would allow her to put food on the table for her children and a few gifts under the tree.
“Its amazing. It’s great to see that there are people out there that are paying it forward what they can do,” Reway told Fox 17.
Cook and his crew blessed forty families over the weekend with the gift cards as part of their mission to help children and ultimately better their community. “My heart is full,” Cook said about seeing the gratitude on each person’s face. “Just to see all of my club brothers and sisters, the smiles on their faces as we are doing this, and we see the people light up when we give them the card and tell them Merry Christmas. Our hearts are very full.”
While many people would have judged these men based on their appearance, and maybe even feared them, the heart behind that leather jacket and tough exterior is bigger than most. What they did for these forty families was more than just give them some grocery money — they gave them hope that there is still good in this world and people watching out for them, making tomorrow a little better than yesterday.
