Holiday Spirit: Did Your State Make The “Naughty” or “Nice” List?
By Dreamer

AccuRadio, a streaming music company, has determined which states have the most holiday spirit. Using the data of their 50 holiday channels from November 2013 through November 2014, they have ranked each state’s total hours of holiday music – which they believe to be a clear indicator as to which states are “naughty” and which states are “nice.”
According to the data, the states with the most holiday cheer based on the most holiday listening hours, otherwise known as the “nice” list, are: Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Washington, and Ohio.
If your state is not on the “nice” list, maybe it made it to the most “naughty” list. The list claims these states have the least holiday cheer: New Jersey, New Hampshire, Delaware, Wyoming, and Hawaii.

Included in the data analysis from what AccuRadio measured are the most and least popular holiday songs. The song that seems to be most popular is “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” and the one that is the most unpopular is “Christmas Don’t Be Late.”

According to The Blaze, AccuRadio music programmer Eric Bowden, explains the reasoning for their holiday-themed research, saying, “First and foremost, people love Christmas music! Our traffic spikes during the holidays, and we enjoy seeing how our listeners are interacting with the music. We frequently look at similar data internally, and always find in fascinating, and we thought others would agree.”
He also mentioned that he was pleasantly surprised that Washing D.C. made it to the top of their list, explaining further, “We adjusted for population size, but given that D.C. is so small, that shows that a huge proportion of our listeners in DC really love Christmas music.”
