Note Gives Perfect Response After Child Asks ‘Are Mom & Dad Really Santa?’
By Dreamer

For many parents, especially moms, it’s the Christmas nightmare — the moment you are asked, “Are mom and dad really Santa?” as our child searches our faces with pleading eyes for the truth and we struggle to decide how best to answer. Luckily, one note gives the perfect response, and you’ll want to hold onto this for when you need it.

The Christmas season is here, and for some parents, the kids are already asking those tough questions as they notice packages arriving at the door, stumble upon the wrapping paper “Santa” uses, or overhear discussions about Christmas shopping, presents, and the budget.
Many parents are still trying to keep the magic of Christmas alive, and that includes their child’s belief in Jolly Old St. Nick, but we know that the day will come when they will ask for the truth. The question is, how do we answer? How do we tell them the truth without robbing them of all that Christmas magic?
Luckily for us, one mom and dad figured out the perfect response and wrote it down in a note that’s gaining traction on social media. Although its origins are unknown, when you read it, it’s easy to see why it’s become the saving grace for many parents when faced with that difficult question about Santa Claus’s real identity.

Surprisingly, the parents begin by denying that they are Santa, but everything makes perfect sense as you continue to read on. They explain that we can all be Santa, and they hit the nail on the head, describing why we jump through hoops to make our kids believe in the first place.
“Santa is lots and lots of people who keep the spirit of Christmas alive,” they explain. “He lives in our hearts — not at the North Pole. Santa is the magic and love and spirit of giving to others.” They add that Santa teaches “children to believe in something they can’t see or touch” because, throughout a child’s life, they will need this capacity to believe in themselves, their family, and God.
“You will need to be able to believe in things you can’t measure or hold in your hands,” they explain before concluding, “Santa is love and magic and hope and happiness.” Just like these parents, we are all on Santa’s team. So, this note doesn’t only resonate with parents who need an answer to their child’s tough question, but with all of us, reminding us what one part of Christmas is all about.
As we celebrate the birth of Christ, what better way to rejoice than with a little “magic” and a lot of love, hope, happiness, giving, and belief in what we cannot see that not only Santa taught us but our Lord showed as well. May you all find many “Santas” on your team this year, as you spread joy and cheer. Merry Christmas and God bless from ours to yours. May the love inspired by this season be shared in the year to come.
