Public School Orders Staffer to Remove “Charlie Brown” Christmas Poster

We all remember the scene from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” when Linus stands on a stage and recites a passage from the Holy Bible describing the Christmas story.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior which is Christ the Lord. That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown,” Linus said.

It reminds us if the true meaning of the Christmas season which is the birth of the Lord.

A staffer at Patterson Middle School in Killeen, Texas, Dedra Shannon, was so moved by the scene she decided to use images to decorate the door to the nurse’s office for the holidays.

The school principal got her bells jingled and ordered Dedra  Shannon to remove the Charlie Brown Christmas poster because it was quoting a Bible passage.

“She said, ‘please don’t hate me, but unfortunately you’re going to have to take your poster down,” Ms. Shannon said. “I’m disappointed. It is a slap in the face of Christianity.”

According to the principal,  the poster violated the U.S. Constitution.

“She said my poster is an issue of separation of church and state. She said the poster had to come down because it might offend kids from other religions or those who do not have a religion.”

Ms. Shannon said Linus on the door was ok – but the Bible passage had to be removed immediately.

“I just took the entire thing down,” she said. “I wasn’t going to leave Linus and the Christmas tree without having the dialogue. That’s the whole point of why it was put up.

Ms. Shannon feels she was simply educating students about the true meaning of Christmas.

This isn’t Linus’ first foray into the storm of political correctness. Fox News reported that last year a Kentucky school cancelled a Charlie Brown Christmas play due to the inclusion of Bible verses.

In another school, one horrified grandmother told WND that “Silent Night” had been replaced by the “Whip Nae Nae” song. Seriously.

The hypocrisy of school officials who preach diversity but practice the exclusion of Christians is glaring. Dec. 25 is called Christmas. Not Wintermas, not Breakmas, not Giftmas. At the center of the holiday is Jesus Christ.
