Instead of crushing her spirit, the entire town gathers to keep her hope alive and celebrate her joy. The local bar, hair salon, even a fake news crew, pulls out all of the stops to show Carmina that they are behind her. Even though she doesn't understand that the ticket numbers haven't been called yet, her elation is so pure that everyone can't help but to rally around her!
But when her son goes to tell her the bad news, that the ticket isn't a winner yet, she hands over her prized piece of paper without thinking twice. All of this goes to show that love and joy is what matters the most, and money is of little importance in the grand scheme of things!
