Donned in a sparkling crown and pink gown fit for a princess, Monique was excited to celebrate turning 15 years old with a quinceañera. She had undergone two heart transplants, but her body kept rejecting them. Doctors said it would be nearly impossible to find a match. That was, until doctors tried pairing Aubrey with Mikey’s organs. It was a perfect match. Mikey’s heart saved Aubrey’s life.
Now, Aubrey is 18 years old. Never before had she met Monique, and so Monique’s family decided to surprise their daughter in a major way. For the very first time, Monique was not only able to meet the girl whose life was saved by her beloved late brother, but she was also given the best birthday gift anyone could ask for — to hear Mikey’s heart beat once again.
