Jaxon Emmett Buell was only expected to live a few days after he was diagnosed with microhydranencephaly, a rare disorder that affects the brain. But the one-year old, whose condition led him to be born with a partial brain and skull, is thriving.
The ‘miracle baby’ has captured the hearts of thousands through photos and updates shared on Facebook. Jaxon’s mom Brittany Buell most recently updated the world with Jaxon’s first time meeting Santa.

“I’m happy to report that what we’re witnessing is one of the best moments that Jaxon has had, and we’re just hoping and praying that that continues,” Brandon Buell, Jaxon’s father, told TODAY. “We’re just so relieved and happy to watch our son growing before our eyes.”
The family also shared a Christmas card from Jaxon, thanking the world for supporting him. “He really has a footprint across the world now, which is just incredibly humbling for us,” Brandon Buell said.
The family has received generous support through GoFundMe, allowing Jaxon’s mom Brittany, to stay at home with him.
“As we near this Christmas and Holiday time, we are feeling overwhelmed that Jaxon is planning to celebrate a second Christmas and New Year’s, that he is still learning and thriving every day, and that his story has traveled as far as it has in only 15 months that he has been with us,” the family wrote on the fundraising page. They also thanked the world for continuing to support Jaxon and their family.
