Sailor’s Wife Gets Mysterious Note At Dinner, Then She Sees It’s For Her Son

Although she was hesitant to go out to eat, a Virginia mother was sick of spending her nights alone while her sailor husband was away. Luckily, she decided to take her son out for a bite, but her night would take a turn when she was handed a note – and that’s when she realized it was for her son.
Emily Infinger took her four-year-old son, Ben, to a Texas Roadhouse in Virginia Beach, but things didn’t exactly turn out the way she expected. Although she was satisfied with her meal, her son may have set the stage for the night’s events.
As Emily’s husband had been deployed for about a year, only coming home for a short time and then returning quickly, she was missing him dearly. Ben, on the other hand, couldn’t have been more proud. Since his dad was due home shortly, he was also very excited.
“[Ben] said, ‘Mommy, can I tell the server about Daddy being on the boat?’ I said, ‘Sure, you can tell her if you want to,’” the mom explained. “So when she came over, he said, ‘Excuse me, I have something to tell you, my daddy’s on a ship and he’s out right now.’”
As one would imagine, their server, Sabrina Carver, was moved. However, what she did with the information has quite a few people talking. According to Emily, she handed Sabrina her card when it was time to pay, but when the server came back, she was surprised to see that it hadn’t been charged. In addition, there was a note on the back of the receipt – but it was meant for Ben
The message read, “We know things are not easy when dad’s away, so tonight, this one is on us!” Apparently, Sabrina had gone into the back to talk with a few of her co-workers to see if anyone else was interested in chipping in for the mom and son of a U.S. military member.
Luckily for Emily, two others, Katie Gearey and Clayton Snell, obliged – and she broke down crying when she found out. However, she wasn’t the only one. “It was very emotional,” said Snell. “I think it’s awesome to see how giving back can go such a far, long way.”
With her husband now back home, she’s hoping to take him to the restaurant to meet the servers who made her night so special. This is just one of the many things that make this country so great. Not only do we help those who need it, we reach out to those who may just need some emotional support. Although you may not know that what you’re doing is important, it could just be enough to get someone through a very dark time.
