Son Puts Willie Nelson’s New Song On Radio, Then Mom Realizes It’s Her Song She Wrote Years Ago

Lyndel Rhodes was a talented musician since the day she was born. Her family from Tennessee was full of musician, and she herself began to play the harmonica at the age of 13.

In 2009, when Lyndel was 85, she wrote a simple yet lovely song called “Little House on the Hill.” At the time, Lyndel had no idea where the song would lead her… and into whose hands the song would land.

Lyndel’s son, Buddy Cannon, also happens to be a skilled musician. Buddy is a successful and renowned music producer who has worked with countless country music superstars, like George Jones and Reba McEntire. For many years, Buddy has continued to work alongside the great Willie Nelson.

One day, Lyndel played “Little House on the Hill” for Buddy. Realizing how great it sounded, Buddy decided to send his mother’s original tune to Nelson himself.

And guess what? Nelson instantly loved it, so much so that he quickly recorded it in his studio and set it to be included on his upcoming release.

In the heartwarming clip below, Buddy plays Willie Nelson’s version of “Little House on the Hill.”

If there’s one thing 92-year-old Lyndel Rhodes knows, it’s music. Born into a musical family in Tennessee, she began playing harmonica at the age of 13.

In 2009, Lyndel wrote an original song called “Little House on the Hill.”

She knew the song had potential, but didn’t think too far into it.

Lyndel and Buddy often duet together and upload their performances onto Buddy’s YouTube page.

When Buddy heard “Little House on the Hill,” he sent it to Willie Nelson.

Nelson loved Lyndel’s song so much so that he recorded it and added it to his upcoming album.

This means that at 92 years old, Lyndel Rhodes has landed her own song on Willie Nelson’s new release. It’s her first song she has ever had recorded, and boy did she make it count.

On Willie Nelson’s own Facebook page, he described the clip below as “such a sweet moment to witness and share.”
