Clerk Asked To Fill Balloons For Cop’s Memorial, Has Infuriating Response

Friends and family in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania are grieving the death of Officer Robert GoGo Jr., who died in an off-duty motorcycle accident almost a month ago. Hoping to honor his life, a fundraiser was planned for the late officer’s son, but when friend Karly Lane went to Party City for to fill a balloon order for the heart-wrenching event, the clerk’s response would leave her in disbelief and many infuriated.
A Party City clerk had an infuriating response when asked to fill a balloon order for Duquesne officer Robert GoGo Jr’s memorial and fundraising event for his son.
While at Party City on Saturday, Karly tried to buy a dozen blue and black balloons for an event to not only honor Officer GoGo but raise funds for the son he left behind when he met an untimely demise. However, things didn’t go as planned when the store clerk found out the balloon order was for a police officer’s memorial ceremony.
According to Karly, the clerk told her that she refused to support a police officer and had someone else wait on her. Shocked, Karly took to Facebook to make the public and Party City aware of what occurred at one of their stores with a post on the store’s Facebook page, which read:
Today I went to one of your [Party City] stores to pick up a dozen blue and black balloons to set free as a memory of Our friends one month, as I stand in line I tell the young girl I need a dozen blue and black balloons and she goes on to ask what they were for very nicely and I explain we had lost a very good friend and police officer one month ago and we were setting them free, she then changed her attitude and told me she needed to get someone else to wait on me because she refused to support a police office (sic). My heart was broken. It such a shame we have people like that working with the public.

WPXI Channel 11 learned about the incident from the Facebook post and reached out to the GoGo family, who has just one question — “Why?”
“How can you not support a police officer? It doesn’t matter. They don’t know my brother. They don’t know what kind of man he was. They don’t know what he did in his job. It just hurts,” GoGo’s sister Jennifer Martino explained.
The news station also reached out to Party City. The manager of the Party City store involved said, “We support all police officers,” then told reporter Mike Holden to follow up with corporate office, which then released the following statement:
“Party City is committed to our customers and the community. Corporate management is looking into the matter to uncover what transpired and will take action accordingly.”
Unfortunately, it is unclear whether this lone problem employee still has her job. We can only hope that Party City handled the individual accordingly and taught her a valuable lesson. This is our youth. This is our future. If we don’t nip this in the bud, we are going to have a society of police-hating punks, who think they are not only justified in passing judgment on someone because of their career choice but also think it’s acceptable to outwardly discriminate against others because of the uniform they wear or wore.
