As Anthem Controversy Continues, Singer Shocks Crowd When Her Mouth Opens

In recent weeks, Americans look on with bated breath, waiting to see who will stand and who will take a knee when our Nation Anthem begins to play. As patriots watch in shock as athletes use the anthem to make a misguided statement, a singer is now taking center stage. When Jennifer Nettles was recently honored with singing the Star-Spangled Banner, she shocked viewers the moment she opened her mouth.
As “protesters” kneel during the National Anthem and others basically flip the bird at the American flag, one singer and songwriter is showing us all how it’s done — and it’ll give you chills. Country star Jennifer Nettles’ rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner is enough to get any red-blooded American fired up with pride in our country.
Before a ball was even kicked in a football game between the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech Saturday night, Jennifer Nettles started the game off right by delivering a version of the National Anthem that left everyone with chills. She beamed with patriotic pride as she sang her heart out. Her beautiful voice left everyone in awe and with enough “‘Murica” flowing through their veins to cover for those who feel that sitting during the anthem is a noble cause.

National pride was felt throughout the stands, between the giant American flag at the center of the field and fireworks exploding during “the rocket’s red glare.” It definitely won’t be as good as seeing it in person, but watch the video for an extra dose of American pride. Nettles’ rendition of the historic song knocked it out of the park.
The Battle at Bristol, as the game is dubbed, began with Americans of all creeds and colors standing proudly as Jennifer Nettles’ powerful voice raised goose bumps even on the arms of those watching from their couches at home. To make the performance even more memorable, fans in the stands were given flip cards to hold up which portrayed a picture of the waving American flag with ‘USA’ spelled out at the end zones.
Jennifer Nettles absolutely did one of the best jobs singing the Star-Spangled Banner in a very long time as several non-uniformed military service members are seen saluting in the crowd during her song. This should set the bar extremely high for all others who seek to butcher the song in favor of putting their “stamp” on the National Anthem. Kudos, Jennifer. That was beautiful.
