Fallen Officer’s Son Makes Statement At Funeral, Stuns Everyone Wearing BOLD Outfit

It’s no secret that police officers put their lives on the line every day. Unfortunately, one Tennessee police officer was recently killed, leaving her son without a mother. During the funeral, the fallen officer’s son decided to stand up and make a brief statement about his beloved mother, but it wasn’t only what he said that captured the crowd’s attention, but the bold outfit he decided to wear to his mother’s funeral as well.
Madison County officer Rosemary Vela was driving in the rain while responding to a call for backup when her car fell off the road, hit a tree, and landed in a creek. Unfortunately, the crash resulted in Vela’s death, leaving her five-year-old son, Jayden, without a mother.

During her funeral, not only did many of her colleagues attend to say their good-byes, Jayden chose to make the ceremony memorable by standing up and saying something from his heart. As difficult as it must’ve been for the young boy, he bravely stood in front of his mother’s friends and family and stated:
We all love her and we want her to come back, but she can’t because she’s in heaven.
Although what he said was heartbreaking, nothing compared to the overpowering heartache that overtakes your soul when you realize what outfit this grieving young boy decided to wear in memory of his mother — a police uniform.

“She was a hardworking, dedicated mother,” explained Rachael Wilkes, according to The Jackson Sun. “Her number one priority was always Jayden’s safety and happiness.” When your son idolizes you as much as Jayden does his mother, you know Vela was raising him right.

To further honor Vela, members of the police department gave a 21-gun salute to their fallen colleague at the end of her funeral.
This just goes to show what kind of people are risking their lives in the line of duty daily. It’s a shame that people are attacking these hard-working, dedicated officers, who deserve far more respect than they could ever possibly receive from the people they put their lives on the line for. It’s about time we end the hate and start showing appreciation for our brothers and sisters in blue.
