Woman Runs Out Screaming When She Sees What Worker Is Doing In Front Yard

A homeowner in Georgia needed an emergency repair done on her home and called a utility worker to come check it out. While he was working in her yard, she went out to check on the situation and started screaming when she caught what he was doing.

Andrea Adams thought the most alarming sight she would see that day was when her waterline broke and she had a geyser in her front yard, but she couldn’t have been more wrong. Frantic to prevent her home from flooding, she made and urgent call to Acton Municipal Utility District to get someone out to her house quick. Jimmie Cox took the call in hopes of getting some overtime, but he ended up with far more than he expected.
The source of her water mess was a one-inch pipe that had burst, and the only way to fix it was to plug it up, which is much easier said than done. Trusting the 23-year-old with the task, she figured he had it handled when the water stopped spraying everywhere. That’s when she looked outside and saw what was really happening.
“When I walked back outside, the kid was in there,” she told 11 Alive, still in shock of the strange scene. The dedicated overtime worker had an alarming approach to immediately fix the problem by submerging the top half of his body into muddy water to clamp the line which was five feet beneath the surface.

Impressed with his effort, Adams snapped a photo and shared it online which has now gone viral, making Cox the poster boy for incredible work ethic. When asked about this unusual effort after being told he became an online sensation overnight, the utility worker simply said he was doing what needed to be done to fix the problem.
“In this line of work, people do it a lot,” he added, shrugging off compliments that he had done anything exceptional when he actually did by proving what work ethic looks like.
What’s incredible about Cox in this picture is that he saw something that needed to be done and didn’t make any excuses — he literally dove right in and got to work. In an era of so much entitlement and lack of effort, what this utility worker did is refreshing to see. All those burger-flippers looking for a raise without the extra effort need to take a look at this and see that when this guy wanted extra income, he took overtime hours on a tough job to earn it, rather than demanding it.
