Man Flees Rite Aid Traumatized After What He Walked Up On In Car

An arrogant criminal was lurking outside of a Michigan Rite Aid, surveying the parking lot for a car to take when he found what he thought was the perfect target. As he approached the vehicle, he had no clue what he was about to face until he found himself fleeing on foot. The criminal was traumatized and received a nasty new addition to his appearance.

Richard Ashford didn’t want the hassle of having to earn his own money to pay for things, so he went after what he thought would be the easier route, taking whatever he wanted from whoever he thought would be the best victim. He was immediately incorrect in his assumption that this action plan was going to be easy when he picked the wrong ride at the store in the town of Eastpointe.
According to WREG, Ashford saw a 91-year-old man get out of his car and figured this was his chance to get what he wanted from a guy who wouldn’t fight back. At just after 10 a.m. on Monday, the elderly victim was walking through the parking lot trying to get to the store when he noticed Ashford and began to feel uneasy about his erratic behavior.
Seconds after seeing him, the criminal approached the elderly man, who immediately responded by warning him that he’s an armed concealed carry permit holder. Ashford decided to walk away at that point, but it wasn’t long before he was back. As the elderly man was in his car, the thug confronted him again, ignoring the fair warning he got not long before. When Ashford pulled out an “unknown object” and pointed it at him, the 91-year-old pulled out his real weapon and fired a single at Ashford, hitting him in the neck.
Having received exactly what he deserved, the robber took off running through the parking lot while screaming in pain. Officers caught up with him not too long later and arrested him for felonious assault. Ashford was taken to a local hospital for treatment before booked into jail, where he’ll have to explain to his cellmates that he got it handed to him by a 91-year-old man.
The prosecutor on the case praised this brave would-be victim for the action he took in defending himself, calling it “an entirely appropriate use of force.” Explaining that the armed victim followed the law exactly as he should have, Prosecutor Eric Smith said, “Facing imminent assault, he announced that he was armed, made attempts to withdraw, warned again that he held a weapon, and fired only when completely necessary.”
This heroic individual disproved critics who claim that elderly folks can’t handle weapons and shouldn’t be armed when he protected himself and is unharmed today because of it. People in his age group are often targets because criminals believe that they are incapable or won’t fight back. They have Second Amendment rights too, just like citizens half their age, and they definitely should use it.
