Woman Nervous About How Cop Is Acting, Then She Sees What’s Behind Her

A woman was driving down a Las Vegas highway in rush hour traffic, not paying attention to anything around her until she noticed flashing lights behind her. She pulled over to the side of the road and found it odd how the police officer was acting while explaining why he stopped her when she looked behind the car in shock.

Dorothy Ortiz had been singing her heart out to a song on the radio when she saw her commute was going to come with a ticket that day. She reluctantly pulled over, unaware of what she did wrong. When she lowered her window to find out, she couldn’t believe what he was really there for.
According to Fox4KC, the cop noticed something about her car that day that didn’t sit well with him. While he was behind her in traffic, he saw that her back tire was flat and was afraid that she was going to get in an accident because of it. However, as they talked about the danger of it, he didn’t let her drive off with just a warning about it. He asked her to sit tight as he turned around and went back to his patrol car.

Rather than just giving her the heads up about the tire, he grabbed his tools and got down on the hot Nevada pavement to change it out for her, so she could carry on safely down the road. Ortiz was not expecting that to happen and was surprised he was going so out of his way. She snapped a photo of him behind her car, fixing the tire for her, and posted it with the message that there are still good people — and good cops — out there.
The cop refused any praise for his kindness, saying he was just doing his job, but Ortiz thinks he went beyond that. “Thank you very much,” she said. “I really appreciate it. Everyone told me I could’ve gotten into a car accident.”
He could have asked her to change it herself, call someone to help, or insist on a tow truck to take it to the nearest gas station since it wasn’t safe to proceed. Instead, he offered himself as the solution to the problem and made her whole day better. That’s something we can all learn from, regardless of whether we wear a badge.
