If You See a Thin Blue Line On a Curb All Around The Country…It Means One Beautiful Thing...Amazing!
By Dreamer
With the tragic recent increase in police shootings, many people have been sharing their support for police officers all across the country. One man in San Antonio, Anthony Welichko, has made a particularly powerful statement about his support for the police. He used the “thin blue line” idea to show a simple and peaceful gesture of appreciation.

The term “thin blue line” refers to the police officers who are the line between a well-functioning society and chaos. Welichko posted a picture on Facebook of a literal thin blue line he painted on the curb outside his home. In his caption, he explained that the symbol shows his support for the officers in his community who help keep citizens safe, and he discourages anyone in his community from trying to harm an officer. He wrote, “To all law enforcement who see this line, know that the residents of this home appreciate your service and dedication to keeping the peace.” Since Welichko posted the picture, it has been shared almost 90,000 times. Several blogs have shared the story as well.

The Safe Harbor Initiative:
To all law enforcement who see this line, know that the residents of this home appreciate your service and dedication to keeping the peace. Know that when you enter the neighborhood and see these lines that you are not alone or without "back-up". We do not need the media to make our voices of support for our police and emergency services heard ( though it would be nice). Lastly, if you are in my neighborhood and mean to harm a member of law enforcement, know that decision may be hazardous to you health as someone has that officers back!
Please share.
Many people in his community have followed his example and painted blue lines outside of their own homes. As the post circulates around the Internet, people from all across the country are using the symbol. With all the unfortunate violence happening around the world this year, these small gestures can bring communities together to support those who keep them safe. It’s an easy, effective, and peaceful gesture of support for police officers and other emergency service workers.
