WARNING! Card Skimmers Have Been Discovered At Wal Mart Self Checkouts! This Is What You Need To Know.

Recent news of credit card skimmers being found in the self check out lanes at Walmart and Safeway are reminding us that thieves are ever more devious and we need to be attentive as to where we stick our credit cards.
Police are still looking for the criminals who installed card skimmers in two U.S. Walmarts, one in Fredericksburg, Virginia and the other in Fort Wright Kentucky. Unfortunately for customers, neither of the skimmers was detected before card data had been captured.
It is estimated that anywhere from 500 to 1,000 credit cards could have been ran through the skimmer.
The device used in Fort Wright is the one you see above. It’s an incredibly faithful reproduction of an Ingenico payment terminal, and it’s priced with that in mind. According to security expert Brian Krebs, a convincing device like this one retails for as much as $300 on the black market — and that’s without the electronic components that actually let criminals swipe data.
This one was discovered fairly quickly — about a week after it had been affixed to a self-checkout. Police have surveillance footage of the two men who installed it, but so far they’ve been unable to track them down.
These skimmers are incredibly easy for criminals to install and self checkout have become a perfect spot for them to do so. They can literally do it in a matter of seconds. You could be standing in line, look away for just a few seconds and the person behind you can place a skimmer on a credit card machine. It is too easy to install one of these skimmers without being caught! This video of a skimmer being fitted in a Miami Beach store makes it clear:
