She Put An IKEA Dining Table In Her Son's BEDROOM! Then, She Cut Two Holes In It To Make THIS! SO COOL!
By Dreamer

Kids love to play and create, which means they’re constantly making a mess. It’s creativity in full action, but it also means there’s a new pile to pick up every time you turn your back for a few minutes.
Parents will do anything they can do downsize the amount piles and make life a little bit easier.
That’s what Sarah from the blog, A Little of This, A Little of That, was dealing with when her son discovered his love for legos.
“It took about one day of me stepping on teeny tiny pieces to decide I had to do something to organize it all,” Sarah wrote on her blog post about the project.
So, she decided to use a table from IKEA to make the perfect, Lego-playing station for her son!
Sarah made the project by using an Ingo dining table and Trofast buckets from IKEA, along with a few other supplies to put it all together.
What You’ll Need:
IKEA Ingo dining table IKEA Trofast buckets (medium size) Jigsaw Drill with spade bit Sandpaper Spray paint Clear sealant
The first step was to put together the IKEA table.

Then, determine how many buckets you want to incorporate into the table. Sarah wanted two, side by side and horizontally. She measured the length and width of the buckets and marked the placements on the table.

She drew a diagram of the layout and dimensions, like so:

Now, it’s time to cut out the rectangles in the table.

She used a spade drill bit to make the holes in the upper corners of the table.

Then, she used a jigsaw to cut out the rectangles, using the lines that she had drawn for guidance.

Here is the table with the two rectangles cut out. She then sanded the edges.

Sarah wanted a different finish on her table, so she spray-painted it before covering it with a non-yellowing sealant.

Now, simply place the bins into the holes. All the LEGO pieces can be neatly stored in there.

The perfect place for some quality LEGO time without getting pieces of them all over the house!

To finish off the play station, Sarah bought some 15×15 gray baseplates that she glued to the edge of the table. For the length of the Ingo table, she used three baseplates.

All it needs is some superglue.

And here they are, securely adhered to the table.

Sarah’s son absolutely adores his LEGO station. Many ideas have been turned into fantastic creations right on top of the baseplates.
