There’s so many people that lean on emotional support dogs, and let's be real, these furry buddies are like gold when it comes to offering much-needed comfort and companionship.
But when these four-legged heroes vanish, it hits hard. Just the other day, Luna, the emotional support dog, got caught up in a vehicle theft caper.
But hey, here's the good news.
Luna, a one-year-old pit bull mix, is the emotional wingman to a girl over in Middletown, Connecticut. The family was out doing their delivery thing this weekend, and guess what? Someone swiped their Chevy SUV – and Luna was right there in the backseat!

According to FOX 61, police were able to use the vehicle’s OnStar tracking system to locate the car. The suspect, 19-year-old Malik Awuah, tried to flee on foot but was apprehended by the police.
But while the car was recovered, Luna was still missing: Awuah told police he had dumped the dog from the SUV shortly after taking off.
A search began for Luna. The family searched everywhere and shared flyers on social media, even offering a reward with no questions asked, hoping to get their beloved service dog back home as soon as possible.

Thankfully, the story has a happy ending: according to NBC Connecticut, Luna was found in a garage in Middletown. Her owners went to get her, and the dog jumped right into the car.
“She’s in good health and receiving lots of love!” the Middletown Police Department wrote on Instagram, thanking everyone who helped in the search. “It’s always great when the community comes together and the end result is happy!”

According to FOX 61, the suspect who stole the vehicle has been charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, interfering with an officer, engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving and cruelty to animals, and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
It's impossible to fathom the ordeal this family endured while their emotional support dog was missing. However, we're overjoyed that Luna is back home, safe and sound!
