Congrats To 33 Years! Hospital Staff Comes Together To Celebrate Nurse Clocking Out For The Very Last Time.

For a remarkable span of 33 years, Nurse Agnes Reyes has been a steadfast presence in the halls of Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, serving in the same dedicated unit. Her unwavering commitment to both her fellow hospital staff and the patients she's cared for has not gone unnoticed. With over three decades of invaluable expertise tucked under her belt, her absence is sure to leave a significant void.

Agnes has been a cornerstone of the hospital team, often staying long after her shift has ended to ensure everything is in order. Her dedication hasn't just been about the job; it's been about the people she's cared for and the colleagues she's worked alongside. So, when the time came for her to bid her final farewell, the entire team decided to return the gesture.

In a touching display of unity, Agnes's colleagues, who have come to know her as the last one to leave, chose to stay behind this time. As she clocked out for the very last time, the team gathered to celebrate her immense contribution and to honor the legacy she leaves behind.

When asked about her feelings on this monumental day, Agnes beamed with joy. She expressed, "I really felt happy. I’m elated because after 33½ years, it feels like, ‘Oh my gosh, I hit a home-run.’" Her final day in the hospital became a testament to the mark she's left on both the institution and the hearts of those she's touched.

During her tenure at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Agnes saw a lot of changes. There was a significant amount of nurse turnover during the COVID-19 pandemic, but Agnes remained committed to her work.

Her dedication and kindness had a big impact on the hospital team.

“She’s got the nurse’s heart and she’s very special,” said Stephanie Bustillos, nurse manager at Chesapeake Medical. “Of course, I was elated for her next chapter but at the same time, very sad because we are losing a very, very, very, very important asset to our unit.”

Agnes’s impact at the hospital will not be soon forgotten. She was a shining light in the unit for over three decades.

Watch Agnes receive well-deserved hugs, cheers, and love from her team members in the adorable video below.
