How To Build A DIY Trash Can Cabinet Easily!
By Mike-Ross

Recently, I came across an enlightening video tutorial by The Rehab Life, and I couldn't resist giving it a shot at home. Let me tell you, it turned out to be one of the most brilliant project ideas I've ever embarked upon! Concealing the trash can has become a breeze, resulting in a tidier appearance. What's more, it seamlessly blends in with the rest of my cabinets, adding a touch of aesthetic appeal to my home. You can easily recreate this project yourself, with a budget of approximately $100 or even less!
Required Materials:
1 board measuring 1x12x8 ft
1 board measuring 1x10x8 ft
1 board measuring 1x2x6 ft
1¼-inch trim head screws
Wood filler
Sanding block
Wood stain
Polyurethane
1 cabinet pull
2 hinges measuring 2 inches
6-inch small chain with ½-inch screws
1 trash bin approximately 20 inches tall
Instructions:
Step 1:
- Begin by cutting the wood pieces to the specified sizes.
- Take 2 pieces of 1x10x10½ and 1 piece of 1x10x14½, and join them together using screws.
- Flip the assembled piece over to its side, and place a piece of 1x12x14½ across the top. Secure it with screws.
- Flip the piece back over, ensuring that the 1x12 piece is now at the bottom. Mark the midpoint.
- Stand a piece of 1x10x27 on the marked midpoint, and screw it in place.
- Repeat the previous step on the other side.
- Set the entire piece aside for now.

Step 2
Next, assemble the rest of the wood pieces, then apply wood filler on the pocket holes that you made, and allow it to dry completely before sanding them until smooth. Stain all of the pieces, then let them dry, and apply coats of polyurethane. Attach the handle to the front piece you’ve assembled, then assemble the front and back pieces together, and attach the hinges as well as the chain.
