Worker At Chicago Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Wrecks Restaurant On TikTok After Claims Of Not Receiving Payment For A Month

A viral video posted by TikTok user Sarah (@itsrah26) shows a chaotic scene at a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Chicago. The video depicts an unidentified employee destroying the store by cutting open bags and boxes of food, and causing other damage throughout the fast food restaurant.

The video, which had nearly 101,000 views as of Thursday morning, includes the text “This is what happens when you don’t get paid for a month.” The footage captures the man dumping raw chicken on the ground, throwing French fries on the floor, and damaging the stockroom. The registers and electric cords also appear to be damaged, and the final clip shows an empty cash drawer on the counter with police officers and a Chicago police vehicle outside the restaurant.

In the comments section of the video, which has received over 400 contributions, a few TikTok users expressed empathy towards the employee's actions and even stated that they would have done the same thing if they were in the same situation. One user wrote, "If I hadn't been paid for an entire month, I would have done the same thing. I support him."

Another said, “Nah, he went ballistic. Rightfully so though.”

Other users commented that he responded in the wrong way, suggesting he should have quit much sooner, reported that he wasn’t getting paid, or hired lawyers and sued the company.

Some commenters on the video expressed understanding towards the employee's frustration but also pointed out that his actions could have negative consequences, such as not being paid at all and possibly facing damages for the destruction. One comment read, "I get why he's angry, but he's definitely not going to get paid now. This is a big company, and he could have sued and received a nice settlement." Other users suggested that the employee could have sought legal assistance or contacted the labor board instead. It remains unclear whether the employee was arrested in connection with the incident.
