One Couple that was shamed for buying $130 engagement ring has a message for the saleswoman who called it “pathetic”

Searching for the perfect person that you want to spend the rest of your life with is special. Sometimes people get bogged down by the details and miss what is truly important; love.

This young couple was only focused on their love for one another but people around them had some things to say…

Ariel and Quinn McRae met when they were both 20 years old. After endless calls on the phone, the couple met and went on their official first date. On their date, they enjoyed chicken wings and one another’s company. They drove around aimlessly and sang together, slowly but surely both of them fell in love.

Ariel recalls that her feelings for Quinn were so strong that she would have married him even after their first date. However, the young couple decided to wait.

After two years of being together, they knew their connection was undeniable and decided to elope.

Ariel said about their relationship, “I’ve never been this happy in my life, and I couldn’t imagine spending it with anyone else ever.”

The couple was giddy with excitement at their decision. They went to Pandora to buy their rings. The couple chose sterling a beautiful silver, pearl, and cubic zirconia set. They were incredibly happy at their choice.

However, their excitement soon turned into embarrassment when one of the employees commented about their choice, “Y’all can you believe that some men get these as engagement rings? How pathetic (sic).”

Ariel was incredibly upset and saw her fiancee’s face fall. He had already been feeling dejected that he had not been able to afford Ariel’s dream ring. The comment only made him feel worse and like a failure.

Another worker at the store helped them out and billed them to their total of $130.

Ariel wanted to let that employee know that it was not material possessions that married when you met the right person. “It isn’t the ring that matters. It is the love that goes into buying one that matters,” she wrote in her viral post. She added, “Y’all I would have gotten married to this man if it had been a 25¢ gum ball machine ring. When did our nation fall so far … Why do material possessions equate love (sic)??”

The couple got married a few days later as they had planned and paid no mind to the hurtful comments they had heard.

While the young couple was well aware of their financial limitations, and how they could not afford a luxurious grand wedding, they knew they had the basics; love. They knew their love was enough to carry each other through the difficult times.

Material possessions, according to Ariel, do not matter in the least in the face of love. She wrote, “My husband was so afraid of me not wanting him because he couldn’t afford a piece of jewelry. He was afraid that the love I have for him would pale because he couldn’t afford the wedding set I wanted.”

After Ariel posted her message, she got countless messages from people all over the world resonating with her message and agreeing with her wholeheartedly.

Ariel just wanted everyone to know that it was the person not the ring that was important!

She said, “I wanted people to understand that … a ring is just a bonus. You’re not marrying someone for a ring. You’re marrying someone because you love them.”

Share this inspiring message of love with others and encourage them to focus on the more important things in life!
