A police officer from Indiana and his wife just did something truly wonderful.
Officer Bruce Faltynski of the Mishawaka police department went far above the call of duty when he and his wife Shelby Faltynski adopted their daughter Myah.
At barely one day old, the infant was left at a safe haven location in Lake County. Under Indiana’s Safe Haven Law, a person can give up a newborn who is under 30 days old anonymously without worrying about being arrested or prosecuted.
Shelby is thankful the birth mother did what she felt she needed to do for Myah. “It just makes me think moms know that they have an option,” she told WLKY. “Myah was truly an answer to our prayer and hopefully we were the answer to the prayer of her mommy as well.”
“We are so grateful for Myah’s birth mom. She made a really courageous decision,” she said told WNDU.
