Wife of disabled veteran sees him in tears, then finds out what his neighbor has done
Meet Brittany Lynn Garrett and her husband Christopher, a veteran of the war in Iraq who suffered a devastating wound in combat. His pelvis was shattered, but Christopher made it home and started another battle on the road to recovery. Against all odds, Christopher recovered from his injuries and continues a relatively normal life with his family, but he still struggles with complications from his injury.
One day Brittany found her husband in tears. “As I was getting ready for my day, my husband appeared at the door with tears in his eyes holding our son,” she told local Fox News affiliate Fox 5 Atlanta. “My heart sank and I thought someone we love took a trip to Heaven… He quickly assured me that no one had died, but someone had just given him a very expensive riding lawn mower!”

The gift was provided by “a grateful American” with no name or return address. The gift was intended to improve his quality of life and allow him more time to spend with the people he loved the most. “I don’t know who they are,” Brittany said. “But they have been watching my 100% combat disabled husband push mow our entire yard once or twice a week, and thought this would help make more time for the important things in life!”
The anonymous good Samaritan left a simple letter with the gift:

Mowing the lawn with a traditional mower has been a slow and uncomfortable chore for Christopher. This beautiful new riding mower allows him the freedom to care for his own property quickly and without pain. The Garretts are overjoyed to have received such a generous gift from a thoughtful stranger. With memorial day around the corner, think about the families of those soldiers who didn’t make it home. Try to make an effort to honor them and give something back to the people they left behind.
