64-Year-Old Handyman stood in hot sun with a sign asking for work – until construction boss sees it and calls him in

It was a hard situation for a man who had been working 25 years as a handyman and suddenly found himself homeless and jobless.

Robert Simpson has a family to provide for and was working and managing to keep a roof over their heads until the COVID-19 crisis changed everything.

The 64-year-old lost his home during the pandemic and he along with his girlfriend and her 6-year-old son have been living in a hotel for the past 7 weeks.

Robert, from Louisville, Kentucky, has been living on a small monthly disability check and working odd jobs to make ends meet.

“We have to pay rent every day, and it costs $55 to $60 to stay there, and I’m running short on money,” Robert told WDRB News. “Didn’t have work.”

So, Robert did all he could to find work, which meant standing in the scorching hot sun for a week holding a sign.

But his sign wasn’t begging for money, or food or shelter. His sign read, “Handyman, 25 years exp., Need work.”

It wasn’t until someone posted a picture of Robert holding his sign that an offer came in that turned this hard-working man’s life around.

Kyle Kark, owner of Greenstar Home Remodeling, saw the post and offered Robert a job.

“We just made the decision to have him come on,” Kyle told the news station. “I don’t know if we’ll have something for him all the time, but we’ll do what we can to help him get back on his feet.”

Kyle picks him up for work and on his first day dropped him home with groceries.

And Robert puts his all into a job that is going to help him and his family get back on their feet.

I’m very happy that Robert was blessed with this opportunity; I hope he manages to get a proper roof over his head soon, he deserves it.
