Elysia Laub was hanging out at home like any other girl would on a lazy afternoon when she got the strong feeling she needed to go outside. The 9-year-old girl says she felt like she was going crazy at first but followed the feeling and went into her backyard.
Then she heard a strange sound coming from the bushes. When she looked, she couldn’t believe what she saw…
It was a newborn baby, umbilical cord still attached, and the child was still alive.
Elysia told reporters, “I just saw pink legs kicking away. I knew it was alive and I knew we had something. I could not second guess myself. I knew we had to get help.”
Elysia’s mom Heidi thought her kid was joking at first but went outside with her to look. “I ran to the baby and scooped it up and I said, ‘Elysia run to the house and call 911 as soon as possible. ’I got to the house and we put one of our baby blankets around her.”
Police arrived and took the baby to the hospital where she was able to make a recovery. Eventually the child found a happy home and it was truly thanks to the 9-year-old Elysia.
