Cooking Light reported, "Signature Select Frozen Avocado Chunks with a 'Best Before' date of October 11, 2020 sold in Albertsons, Safeway, Safeway Community Markets, Carrs-Safeway, Eagle, Lucky, Pak N Save, Pavilions, and Vons across 15 states are cause for contamination concern."
The Food and Drug Administration said that the recall was “based on strict precautionary measures after the company was informed by the FDA that a routine sampling program found a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes in one sample bag of the product.”
Thankfully, no illnesses have been reported in connection to this recall. However, Food Safety News reported that consumers are being warned to check their freezers. Because the best by date is so far away, the FDA is concerned that consumers will forget about the recall.
The company said, “Consumers who have purchased the product should discard or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
